So today is September 4th, my first day in Costa Rica. I took two planes (one of which was super small), a car ride, and it took about 8 hours total to get to my host family's home. I'd have to say, I think I'm adapting pretty well. I had a few cries while traveling, but I think it's safe to say no one noticed lol. I was a little timid at first but I am feeling a lot better. I'm staying with my host mom, dad, sister, sister's daughter, and another exchange student. I have my own room and my own bathroom in the room. It's pretty tight and not a lot of room, but I like it and I'm grateful. We ate a delicious meal for lunch. It was steak with grilled onions and peppers, white rice, cooked squash, and salad... and iced tea. I went to the mall with another exchange student and her friend today as well. That was quite an experience taking a taxi and seeing all the same stores I recognize but nothing is in English. Nevertheless, it was still fun. For dinner we had chicken enchiladas and salad. (Guess I'll be eating healthy here *thumbs up*). At this point, I'm super excited for what's in store! Needless to say, I need to brush up on my Spanish and become a lot more fluent. I expect to though.
They say since today was the first day, they were easy on me and spoke English but tomorrow it's all Spanish. Let's hope they were joking lol.
El primer dia fue un éxito. ¡ Estoy listo! ¡ Pura vida!
