Today today today. Now I see why people don't like Mondays lol. You'll see why a little later. Well in the morning, I woke up and got ready like usual. I had bananas for breakfast. There was also a sandwich but I'm not used to eating a sandwich for breakfast and I didn't really like it so I didn't eat that. A maintenance person came today to fix my shower as well. (I've been taking showers in another bathroom because my bathroom didn't have hot water). I get to school today and we have a presentation and activity with all the other international students. Well let's back up. Me and my exchange sister were on the bus stop this morning waiting for the bus to take us to school and guys were driving by honking at us and it was weird. A guy also drove past on his motorcycle and winked at me. Apparently that attention means a female is pretty. They only do it to females that are not from the country though. They get excited when they see new pretty females in the town. So it's like, a compliment. I didn't really like that attention though lol. But back to the school, I enjoyed the activities we did when we arrived. The presentation was a little boring though. We then had a tour of the university and later a lesson on how to use Blackboard, a learning platform for students. After that we were supposed to come back at 3pm to receive our schedules. So at noon, I went with some others to a small food place to get lunch. When we come back at 3 we are told that we have to wait 30 more minutes because the lady is "checking our files". I was told this about 3 times, every time I came back to see if my schedule was ready. All she knew to say was "she is checking your files". After about 2 hours later than when I was supposed to have my schedule for my classes she then says she would like for us to come back tomorrow to receive our schedules. Say whaaaaat?! I was pretty upset because I could have been resting or doing something fun. Also, I needed to know if I had a class. I, and many others, found it frustrating and very unorganized. I also learned a new phrase because of this: tiki time. "Tiki time" means like they are always relaxed and don't rush and they get stuff done whenever. I learned that, as a culture, the worse thing we can do is rush them or make them frantic. They can't really handle that. But anyways, later, at 6:20, I received an email with some times for classes and I saw that I had a class from 6:30-9:30pm. Needless to say, I didn't make that class today. I was told not to worry about it though because it wasn't my fault. So now I am very tired. I am chilling with my exchange sister in the house with me (who's from France, cool right??) until we go to sleep. It has been a LONG day for us and it will be for at least the next two weeks!
